Erosion Through The Mallee

unnamed

Last week saw some harsh conditions sweep across South Australian and into the Victorian Mallee; 100 km/h winds hit recently cropped land and had a large impact on the erodibility of the landscape. The winds caused defined furrows to be filled in, burying germinating seeds 3-4 inches under the soil surface.
Erosion is still a major issue across farming areas. No Till has seen a reduction in aeolian soil erosion however the issue is still prevalent across all agricultural areas. Further management is required to reduce the impact of erosion across varying landscapes.
There are a couple of good papers recently released that are placing strong focus onto the management of erosion throughout primary industry.
