Bedrock influences soil more than realised

UWbedrock

Bedrock is essentially the parent material to soil. Therefore its degradation is a recharge mechanism for many soil nutrients and as a result its composition can limit plant growth.

Studies have shown that the influence of the nutrients contributed to the soil by the bedrock is of high significance.

Researchers at the University of Wyoming have assessed its influence as being on par with climate information when analysing variations in a landscape.

Why this article is so important for agriculture, is because maybe we have missed the importance of deeper soil influence on surface crops.
